What Happened to _________?

I would consider myself to be a pretty resourceful person. When I have a question, or need information, I find it. But I have a lot on my plate right now so perhaps you can be of help. I am about to list a series of music artists from the past. If you have any information on them, that is not found on Wikipedia (I can look that up myself), please leave a message. I will continue to update this list as my memory improves.
Sheena Easton? I’m not sure what she was. A singer? “My Sugar Walls;” and perhaps was affiliated with Prince.
Sheila E? A very talented drummer if you’ve ever seen a chick drum before (I think she was on the track “Glamorous Life”) She was definitely affiliated with Prince.
Apollonia Kotero? Another Prince affiliate and sexy Italiana. She was in the movie Purple Rain.
Lisa and Wendy? Okay, damn, I can’t get off of Prince. They were members of The Revolution.
Tony Terry? He sang two hits that I remember, “When I’m With You,” and “Everlasting Love.”
ABC? A.k.a. Another Bad Creation. A group of 5 teenage boys (Chris, Mike, Red, Dave, and Ro?) ranging in age. I loved their CD. Hit song was “[At the ]Playground.”

The Boys? Another R&B group. Their once popular song eludes me right now but they sang a song with…
Shanice? What the heck happened to her. She had a piano vocal range of 8 octaves (greater than Mariah).
Morris Day? Okay, so I can’t stop talking about Prince’s people.
Tonya Blunt? I think she was from the D.C. area. What was her song? It was a smooth track.
Soul for Real? Another R&B group of boys. They did the cutest remake of Patti Labelle’s “If Only You Knew,” but I don’t think that was popular unless you had the CD.
Rome? He sang “I Belong To You.” A hot slow jam. That’s probably it.
Bone Thugs N Harmony? I know they’re still around. I just want to know what happened to the original, original members.
Lisa, Lisa, & the Cult Jam? Dance music at its best, but I can’t remember their main song.
Update. Was that the Lisa-Lisa on the BET awards tonight?
Men at Large? They sang, “I’m So Alone” and I think they were rather large.

Well…nothing happened to him. He is currently “Prince,” alive, well, and still making albums.

ha, i just did a post the other day on my favorite scenes of guest musical acts and both the boys and shanice made the list for their appearances on a different world and family matters respectively. but yes that was lisa lisa on the bet awards. i havent seen her appearance, but apparently they thought it was cute to put her with mary mary.
soul for real had a song called one man feat. jadakiss recently but thats the last ive heard of them. candy rain was the jam tho. i feel like tonya blount disappeared somewhere with her sister act royalties. but she could sang.

OOh. Thanks for the info. I’ll check you out. I knew I spelled Tonya’s last name wrong, but I didn’t feel like looking it up. I can’t imagine what the Boys look like now. The last thing I remember about Shanice was that she had gone to college.

Lisa Lisa Cult Jam’s main song was “I wonder if I take you home”. The 80s were the best with the birth of MTV and music was off the chain. I agree with the Tanya Blount songs. Today..I was listening to her cassette and the song “Through the rain”. Haven’t heard anything in reference to her. How about the group Today. What happened to them? It would make sense to have Mary Mary and Lisa Lisa on the stage together. Yes, Mary hands down is a stronger singer but Mary started out in the 80s. She was crowned the Queen of Hip Hop in the 80s with all of her hits. Remember..what’s the 411? and real love. It as the jam. Hey…does everyone remember when Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam came out (under Full Force…they were the bomb too)…I remember getting a A semetrical hair cut so that my hair would cover one eye just like Lisa Lisa. That was too funny! Back in the days! It was a lot of fun in the 80s. We were broke with Reagonomics but we had fun. Everyone was dancing on the street and went in the house to our government cheese and dry milk. That was days!!! I don’t miss trying to be a fly girl and doing it in the butt with EU (remember that). Also wearing my african madalion with Public Enemy – Fight the Power. And that other song that came out with all of the rap artists — Self Destruction..we’re heading for self destruction. Remember that? Those were the days!

Yes, those were the days. In fact, I think music now SUCKS. It’s gotten nastier and nastier and it just plain sucks. We’re not Fighting the Power, we’re not Making Love, we are Pussy Poppin Hos and Gangsta Ass Pimps.

Well after perusing thru your site, I have to add my trivia for you. What ever happened to Sheila E? I grew up in the Oakland area in the 80s and used to watch her perform. Whats interesting is that Sheila E’s brother Pete Escovedo Jr is Nicole Richies dad (aka Nicole Camille Escovedo) which makes Nicole Caucasian, black creole and hispanic. Sheila’s last album was in 2001 “heaven” and she “ministers” and travels with her musical family touring.
As it is very late, I will come back and help you update your music list, of course I could provide my own, “what happened to” but then that would be dating myself….lol…

I loved Lisa Lisa!!!! The group sang all cried out, head to toe, and lost in emotion. My fave was all cried out though by a long shot. Doing prelim research on her, her contract ran out in 92, she went on to record an album alone and it flopped. But all cried out is still a great classic 80’s cry song.

I’m not sure I know All Cried Out. I remember it as a song that was done by some young Black boy group along with a young Black girl group….in the 90s. I guess they remade it. I love Head to Toe…that was when music was so EXCITING. I have that CD. And I love Lost in Emotion.

just got to this rj. prince is my man! i have the purple rain dvd as well as under the cherry moon. prince is a sexy vain thing and anyone who can make those james brown moves in four-inch heels playing a guitar (damn well, too) has got to be real talent. “when doves cry” and “i would die for you” are hot songs..also was a fan of sheila e. and her dad pete escovido. i’ve seen her perform with the pete escovido band in the bay area. lisa lisa and cult jam – great group, listen to “all cried out” slow jam – the woman’s got soul..prince has a club here in vegas where he used to play unannounced – went to see chaka khan there omg she’s just as good as years ago, still got the high notes, played those drums..that was one of the best concerts i’ve seen in 10 years..prince is keeping to himself nowadays last time i heard we has working with apple studios in london, dong some beatles tracks..

prince is MY man…LOL…he is beautiful. i have those dvds, too!!! funny, when I got your comment, I had just awoke from a dream about my sexy MF. i love the whole purple rain soundtrack. i wish i had seen sheila e perform [or prince, even]. i like drummer girls, sexy.. chaka khan plays drums? yeah, prince is a shadow of his former self.

yes, prince. l’il jon ok but prince has it all. i still can’t figure him out i guess the mystery is sexy too all i know is he’s a vain thing – i love every song on purple rain even morris day’s too.you see every artist affiliated w/ prince i like. he got every girl he wanted except for susanna hoffs of the bangles for whom he wrote “manic monday”. chaka khan plays good drums sheila e. plays timbales more.

yes, prince does have it ALLLLLLL. I will always remember these lyrics “I’m not a woman, I’m not a man, I’m something that you’ll never comprehend” Yes, baby, take ME (he is sooo short, though). There is a VERY sexy song not on the purple rain sndtrak, but in the piano book, It’s called GOD. If you know the movie like I, it is from the fake “sex” scene with he and apollonia. LOVE IT. funny you remember that line. that line played with my head and i thought ..” now why couldn’t i have come up with that lyric”.. an example of why i think the 5′2 guy is is sexy and brilliant. music, lyrics, dance, guitar, his moves and his singing just sends me there. the man is deep.
