10 Things to Remember About Obama As President

1.  Obama is Black, but Black is only a superficial description, the Black Experience is something totally different.  Understand it.

2.  Just because he looks like you, doesn’t mean he is thinking about you.  People are naturally self-serving, first. Make yourself known.  Sell you.

3.  There is a lot more to politics than voting for the President.  Participate.

4.  Everything that goes wrong, will be blamed on Obama and his supporters…meaning Liberals and Blacks…really meaning Blacks.  Be prepared.

5.  Black people aren’t all the same, thus we don’t have the same goals or methods of obtaining them.  People possess different tools.  Know that.

6.  Michelle Obama has every right to be [an] angry [Black Woman]…Look at what happened to Hillary.  Feel her.

7.  Obama is a Leo, just like Clinton.  Recognize that.

8.  Obama is a politician, not the Pope, not a homeboy.  Remember it.

9.  He is not a superhero and thus cannot save the world alone.  Join him.

10.  This presidency can be the beginning or the end.  Choose.

I wrote this as I sit here watching the festivities on tv, when I am right here close to the Capitol and could have darn well stood outside in person–but I have descended and am past the hype and flashing lights. I voted, I have the newspapers. I am ready for action.

This is historic…people have been waiting for this moment…I get it…I feel it…I understand it…I do not wish to detract from this moment.  It is my hope that people will be active, aware, discerning…we cannot wait for things to happen…we must make them happen.

I would like to close with this statement I just heard on CNN, by David Gergen:

“See him as President, and not as a Civil Rights leader.”
